About Tandem

Tandem started with a coffee grinder that broke after six weeks. The marketplace version had been cheaper than the one in the shop window, but there was no invoice, no manufacturer to call, and no way to send it back. The shop version cost nearly twice as much for what turned out to be the same parts inside. We spent a weekend looking for something in between and couldn't find it, so we started buying directly from the workshops ourselves.

That is still how Tandem works today. We buy directly from the factories and workshops that actually make each item, which means there is no importer or brand mark-up sitting between you and the price. Every product is used daily by someone on our small team for at least three months before it goes on sale, and everything carries a genuine two-year guarantee that we honour ourselves rather than passing you to a manufacturer abroad.

We are still a small team working out of one warehouse in Germany, and we still open every returned parcel ourselves to see what went wrong. That part is unlikely to change, however large we grow.
